About Dan

What is your full name?

Dan Kelly

When is your birthday?

29th September

What is your favourite drink?

I can't walk past one of those Frijj milkshakes without wanting to buy and immediately neck one. Pretty confident I must be in the running for 'the person who's drank more of these than anyone else' award.

What is your favourite sports team?

I was born just a few hundred metres away from Leicester City's stadium so it was always going to be them.

What other Sports do you like?

I’ve been known to pin my eyes open until 5am just to watch a few minutes of UFC, Boxing or cricket.

What is the worst job you've had?

When I was 16 I spent a summer stacking bananas in a supermarket. For the rest of that year all I could smell was bananas. I didn’t like bananas then and I hate them with a passion now. If my wife gets angry with me she'll eat one just so I won't try and kiss her!

What was the first record you bought?

I bought ‘End of the road’ by Boyz II Men on cassette for a girl I fancied at school. Biggest waste of 79 pence in my life!

What was the last song you listened on your phone?

The brilliant album ‘Swimming’ by Mac Miller which was released just weeks before he died is getting most of my ear time at the minute.

What are your top 3 favourite films?

I’m more of a TV boxset watcher than films so I’ll go with:

1 - The Wire
2 - Game of Thrones
3 - Curb Your Enthusiasm

How many children do you have?

2 daughters

What is your favourite food?

I won’t lie, I’ll pretty much eat anything! (Except those damn bananas!)

What is the best Christmas present you ever had?

I remember getting my geek on when my then girlfriend bought me some DJ decks. She didn’t see me for the next six months, which I now realise is what she wanted!

What is your favourite place in the world?

I spent five very happy years in Dubai so nothing else can compete with that place really.

What is your funniest moment in radio?

Having Tim Westwood co-host a four hour show with me live from a beach was funny because the whole experience was just really REALLY surreal!
The other was getting international coverage on my breakfast show in Birmingham – our newsreader walked straight into the canal while texting her boyfriend. We dined off that for a long time!
