Pippa Middleton has announced her engagement to boyfriend James Matthews after she was spotted with a huge diamond ring on her left hand.
The Duchess of Cambridge's sister is expected to marry the hedge fund boss in 2017.
"Miss Pippa Middleton and Mr James Matthews are delighted to announce they became engaged on Sunday 17 July and plan to marry next year," the couple said in a statement.
Miss Middleton, 32, was not wearing the ring when she attended a fundraiser in London on Monday night.
However, on Tuesday the engagement ring, a large diamond surrounded by smaller diamonds, was clear to see as she left her home in London.
Her father, Michael Middleton, said he and wife Carole were "absolutely thrilled" at their younger daughter's engagement.
"They make a wonderful couple and we wish them every happiness together," he said.
And the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are "absolutely delighted", a Kensington Palace spokesman said.
Miss Middleton and Mr Matthews, who have been dating for less than a year, were seen enjoying the tennis at Wimbledon earlier this month.
It is thought Mr Matthews proposed during a trip to the Lake District.
