John Lewis Christmas advert date confirmed

Last year it was 'Moz the Monster' and his seven-year-old friend Joe, but what will this year's advert bring and when's it on?

The release of the John Lewis Christmas advert has become synonymous with the beginning of the run up to Christmas.

From a tear-jerking penguin romance to 'The Man on the Moon', the retailer's festive ads get people across Britain in the festive spirit year after year. Rumours have been circulating about the singer, theme and the release date for 2018 - here's everything you need to know.

For the last two years, the John Lewis Christmas advert has been released on November 10.

The adverts featuring Monty the Penguin and The Man on the Moon came out on November 6.

In recent years, the department store has unveiled the ad on social media and YouTube, and last year's advert premiered on TV in the ad break of Gogglebox on Channel 4.

There's not long to wait, as the advert is out November 5.

Who is singing in the advert this year?

Over the years, John Lewis's Christmas adverts have boasted some big names from the music industry.

Singers such as Lily Allen, Ellie Goulding and Gabrielle Aplin have provided the soundtrack in the past.

This time, according to the Mail on Sunday, music legend Elton John will be singing Your Song.

Elton John will be paid £5million for his performance of his 1970 hit on the advert.
