Hedgehog changes ahead of movie release

The director of the new Sonic the Hedgehog film has promised fans he will make changes to the hedgehog's design after an online backlash.

A trailer released on Tuesday revealed that the famous blue hedgehog had undergone an overhaul, prompting many fans to question why it has been seemingly given human teeth and disproportionate legs.

Responding to the criticism of the design, director Jeff Fowler said he had listened to feedback and is ready to make changes.

He tweeted: "Thank you for the support. And the criticism. The message is loud and clear... you aren't happy with the design & you want changes.

"It's going to happen. Everyone at Paramount & Sega are fully committed to making this character the BEST he can be... #sonicmovie #gottafixfast."

Sonic's original designer, Naoto Ohshima, said he was concerned with the film revamp.

He tweeted: "I was hoping that adults could enjoy it. So far, various Sonics have appeared.
