Tom Cruise will take James Corden on a CRUISE of the Thames in a hilarious skit for The Late Late Show in London.
The Hollywood actor shut down an entire section of the river by Tower Bridge and took over a boat to escort the host on a special tour of the sights to celebrate his homecoming.
Tom, 54, kitted out the vessel with huge posters of his face and rebranded the River Thames ‘Thames Corden’ in honour of the Gavin & Stacey legend.
A source said: “Tom thoroughly enjoyed being tour guide for James.
“He’s a huge fan of London and jumped at the chance to jokingly show James all the sights and landmarks along the way.”
The unmissable segment comes seven months after Tom last graced The Late Late Show in its usual home in the US to reenact his entire film career at lightening speed in a segment called Roll Call, including all five Mission Impossible movies.
James yesterday said of Tom: “When I’m with him I don’t know whether to shake his hand or lick his face. I’m so in love with him.”
The skit will air as planned after James revealed the recent terror attacks in the city had forced him to rethink some of what would be featured in the upcoming episodes.
The 38-year-old host said he had to scrap his opening sketch after having already filmed a majority of it as its “tonally doesn’t make sense” in the wake of the attack, which seven people were killed and 48 others were injured by a group of terrorists on the London Bridge.
He said: “What we’re doing is in flux right now, but we had an opening that we’d been working on for a while and we’d shot probably 75 per cent of it, but we agreed that we don’t think it feels tonally right after the weekend to start the show like that.
“We’re going to work tonight and tomorrow on how we will open the show.”
As a result, the opener is still up in the air just a few hours before the first London episode debuts.
James added: "We don't know what we're going to do. Maybe it's a good time to being doing a show like this to show the world the unbelievable spirit and determination and strength of this great city. It's a beautiful place to be."
London will be in the spotlight during the special three-part series with James already having recorded a special Crosswalk Musical performance of Mary Poppins alongside Sir Ben Kingsley.
Fans will also be treated to a new instalment of Carpool Karaoke when James turns rap star in a SUV ride Ed Sheeran.
Tom’s ex Nicole Kidman, David Beckham, Anthony Joshua and Kit Harington are among those also joining in the fun with performances from Harry Styles and Kings of Leon in the special UK-filmed episodes.
