Women attacked during attempted robberies in Congleton

Police are investigating two attempted robberies in Congleton, where women were assaulted.

A 21-year-old woman was walking along Bromley Road at 11.55pm last night (29 June), when she was pushed to the floor from behind and kicked.

The offender searched the victim but left empty handed.

A similar incident happened a few hours later on the same street, when a 23-year-old woman was also pushed to the ground at around 1:30am this morning (30 June).

The offender again fled empty handed.

The suspect is described as white, around 5ft 9ins, in his mid-20s and of slim build. He has a gaunt face and pointed chin. He was wearing a dark hooded top and dark tracksuit bottoms.

DC Rob McCubbin said: “We are following a number of lines of enquiry and are stepping up patrols in the area to provide reassurance.

"We would advise that everyone takes the usual precautions to keep safe when you’re out and about, such as keeping to well-lit areas and keeping expensive items out of sight.

“If you see suspicious activity, call police on 101 - if it’s an emergency call 999.”
