Woman injured and bag stolen in Congleton robbery

A woman has suffered minor injuries after being robbed in Congleton.

Police say two women were approached by two men dressed in dark clothing on Fox Street around 9:20pm on Saturday 4 March.

They pushed one of the women causing her to fall. The men then stole her handbag and ran onto the A54 towards St Stephens Church.

The men are described as being dressed in black clothing with their hoods up, and were in their late teens or early 20s, and of slim build.

DC Phil Macey said: “The victim was left shaken and bruised by her ordeal. Thankfully this is an isolated incident and we are continuing to make a number of enquiries in the area to find those responsible.

“I would urge anyone with information to contact me.”
