Teenager attacked in Stoke on Trent

Police are appealing for witnesses after a teenager was assaulted in Stoke-on-Trent in the early hours of this morning.

The 19-year-old victim was on his way to a friend’s house in Shelton when he was approached by a teenager on a BMX bike asking for money.

The victim refused and ran off.

He was then approached by the same teenager in Cauldon Road, who snatched the victim’s mobile phone, and a struggle ensued.

The victim was assaulted from behind by other offenders and had his wallet and mobile phone stolen.

The incident occurred between midnight and 12.30am.

The victim was taken to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire for treatment to minor injuries and is now recovering at home.

The main offender is described as Asian, aged 17 to 18, 5ft 8in to 5ft 9in tall with a slim build. He had a slim-shaped face, was clean shaven and spoke with a local accent. He was wearing a dark blue hooded top with the hood up.
