Warning after spate of car thefts

Police are investigating several thefts from cars in Stoke-on-Trent.

Designer sunglasses, brand new shoes and tools have been reported stolen from vehicles in Sneyd Green, Stanfield, Chell and Hanley in the last week.

Stoke North Neighbourhood Policing Team Sgt Victoria Barker said: "We're asking vehicle owners to be conscious of security.

"Please make sure you lock your vehicle when you leave it, even if it's only for a few seconds while you go to pay for fuel at a filling station.

"Don't leave things on view. Wherever possible take things with you.

"If you have to leave items in your car then make sure they're locked away out of sight in the boot. And if possible, park somewhere well lit.

"These simple measures may help reduce your risk of being targeted by thieves."

Anyone who has any information about the recent thefts from cars and vans is asked to ring Staffordshire Police on 101, quoting incident 90 of 17 April.
