Volunteers turning bus into library for Stoke-on-Trent school

Students from the Prince's Trust Team Programme at Stoke-on-Trent College are transforming a bus into a library and classroom for a school in the city.

The team of 8 agreed to take on the challenge as part of the 12 week self-development course.

They were recruited by Waterside Primary School in Hanley, who had the double-decker vehicle donated to them by First Bus.

Staff had seen the idea at another school, and being pushed for space until it can expand, thought it would be a way of getting the library facility they needed in a way the children would also enjoy.

The Princes Trust Team raised funds for the project by holding bake sales at the College, and packed bags at Tesco in Hanley.

B&Q and Wickes have also donated items including paint and cleaning equipment.
