Two cars torched in one night in Crewe

Police in Crewe are appealing for information after arsonists targeted two vehicles in one night.

The first incident occurred shortly before 10pm on Thursday 9 November, when a black Seat Ibiza was found alight outside an address on Fairburn Road.

The second fire occurred a short time later, at 2.30am on Friday 10 November, when a white Renault panel van was found well alight on Riverside Grove.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service attended both of the incidents and investigations revealed that they were both started deliberately.

Sergeant Martin Caldwell said: “Thankfully nobody was injured as a result of these incidents. However, the fires caused significant damage to both of the vehicles and put the lives of innocent members of the public at risk.

“In addition, two further vehicles and two properties were also damaged as a result of the fire on Fairburn Road. Enquiries in relation to both incidents are ongoing and we are keeping an open mind as to whether the two are linked.

“As part of the investigation I’m keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time the incidents occurred and believes they may have witnessed anything suspicious.

"I would ask with any information that could assist the investigation to contact the team here at Crewe on 101 quoting incident number 988 of 9 November 2017. Information can also be passed anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
