Two arrested on suspicion of murder following Crewe death

A murder investigation has been launched following the death of a man in Crewe.

Emergency services were called to a report of a man found with  serious injuries at a flat in Lord Street, at around 9.40pm on Friday night (3 January).

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The death is being treated as murder and an investigation has been launched.

Two men from Crewe, aged 22 and 39, have been arrested on suspicion of murder.

The 22-year-old has been released on conditional bail and the 39-year-old has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

A cordon is currently in place at the address, and officers are in attendance to provide reassurance to residents.

Anyone with any issues or concerns is urged to speak to an officer.

Detective Inspector Paul Hughes said: “I understand that incidents of this nature are extremely concerning to the community and I would like to reassure them that we are everything we can to establish exactly what has taken place and who was responsible.

“We are at the early stages of our investigation.

“At this time this appears to be an isolated incident.

“Enquiries are ongoing and I urge anyone with any information that may help our investigation to get in touch.
