Man arrested and three people in hospital after car overturned in Newcastle

A man has been arrested and three people have suffered multiple injuries after a car hit a tree in Newcastle.

The incident happened in the early hours of this morning (June 30).

West Midlands Ambulance Service were called to Dartmouth Avenue at 12.22am and sent three ambulances, a paramedic officer and two BASICS doctors to the scene. 

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “On arrival crews discovered a car that had suffered significant damage in the incident and three patients, all of whom had managed to get themselves out of the vehicle. 

“The three patients, two women and a man, were all assessed by ambulance staff and treated for multiple serious injuries, though not thought to be life-threatening. 

“They were then taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital for further treatment.”

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said that a 21 year-old man from the Newcastle area has been arrested on suspicion of committing driving offences and remains in custody.

An investigation into the collision continues.
