Three arrested after two supermarkets robbed

Three men have been arrested within 20 minutes of police receiving calls about two robberies in Stoke-on-Trent.

Officers say staff were threatened, but unhurt, at the Co-op and Tesco supermarkets on Church Street in Audley at around 8:20am this morning (2 January).

The males, aged 27, 31 and 38, have been arrested on suspicion of robbery and remain in custody.

Arresting officers – who are searching through CCTV footage - recovered two broken bottles of Champagne.
