Stoke-on-Trent City Centre Business Improvement District (BID) is taking part in the first Totally Locally national Fiver Fest this June.
Stoke-on-Trent City Centre shops, cafés, restaurants, pubs and businesses taking part are putting on special £5 offers for the duration of the Fiver Fest campaign from June 8th – 15th to encourage shoppers back into their local town centres and high streets.
The BID are asking shoppers to look out for the distinctive posters around town and online promoting all of the Fiver Offers.
Richard Buxton, Stoke-on-Trent City Centre BID Manager said: “We’re delighted to be taking part in the National Fiver Fest. Not only does it help people recognize the importance of supporting their local high street, it gives businesses the chance to thank their customers with great deals."
“Everyone is aware of the challenges that High Streets across the country are facing, and schemes like this go a long way in helping solidify the message that we each have a part to play in shopping locally and revitalising the city centre.”
Thirty five businesses have confirmed they will be offering Fiver Fest deals.
Fiver Fest promotes the main Totally Locally message, Richard added “If every adult in Stoke-on-Trent spent just £5 a week with their local independent shops and businesses instead of online or at the big supermarkets or chain stores it would be worth £50 million going directly into our local economy.”
Petra Houstekova of Restaurant Family located on Broad Street which specialises in delicacies from Czech Republic and Slovakia, is among businesses participating.
Petra said: “We’re excited to be taking part in Fiver Fest; anything that will help independent businesses in the city centre is to be welcomed. Hopefully the initiative will encourage local people to try something a little different and invest a bit of money into the high street.”
“We will be offering a lovely lángos burger meal, which plays on the traditional Hungarian dish. For just £5, customers will be able to get either a Royal beef & gherkin lángos burger, or a Camembert lángos burger, complete with sides.
"It is a totally unique offering in Stoke-on-Trent and you won’t find it on the menu elsewhere in the city! Only in Brooklyn, USA for that matter!”
Hanley Indoor Market are also throwing their full support behind the campaign.
“Fiver Fest presents the perfect opportunity to not only thank our customers for shopping at Hanley Indoor Market, but also to hopefully entice new people to explore the diversity of what we offer here” Ashley Baker, Market Manager commented.
“A number of traders are getting involved with putting special £5 deals on, but we will also be hiding £100 worth of market vouchers in and around the market and the city centre throughout the week.
"We will be posting clues and updates on the Hanley Market Facebook page.”
