A Special officer serving with Staffordshire police has been the victim of what has been described as a 'Cowardly assault' while on duty.
It happened in the Uttoxeter area and police say offenders have been arrested and enquiries are on-going.
Meanwhile the force say they had a busy Saturday night dealing with a variety of incidents, including domestic violence, drink drivers and road traffic collisions.
Chief Constable Gareth Morgan took to the social media and said: "Drink and drunk related calls now increased significantly across the Staffordshire Police area - Overall demand is equivalent to pre Xmas/NYE - busiest up to midnight.
