Spate of distraction burglaries across Staffordshire

There has been a spate of distraction burglaries in North Staffordshire.

There were four on Tuesday 9 January and in each case the offenders claimed to be from the water or electricity board to gain entry to the properties.

The incidents all took place between the hours of 4.30pm and 7.30pm on Bayham Walk, Bucknall, Uffington Parade, Bentilee, Whitley Road, Ball Green and Hurst Street, Longton.

The victims were distracted by a man ‘checking’ the taps or switches in various rooms, while a second man located and stole valuables from the home.

The offenders are described as white males, aged between 25 – 40 years old, and wearing dark clothing with high visibility sleeveless vests.

Residents are encouraged to contact the police immediately if they have suspicions about visitors to their homes, and are reminded not to trust callers without a prior appointment.

Anyone with information about any of the above incidents is asked to call Staffordshire Police on 101.
