Six fire engines at the scene of a property in Congleton

Around 30 firefighters are tackling a blaze in Congleton.

Crews were called to reports of smoke coming from the chimney of a derelict property on West Street. 

Six fire engines attended, two from Congleton, one from Alsager, one from Crewe, one from Lymm, one from Holmes Chapel and an aerial appliance.

On arrival the crews discovered a fire on the second floor of the property.


Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are using two hose reel jets to extinguish the flames.

An aerial appliance has been used to access the roof space with a covering jet being used.

Residents nearby are being advised to keep all windows and doors shut.

Police are in attendance to assist with road closures in the area.
