Security guard injured in cash van robbery

Police are appealing for witnesses after a robbery in Stoke-on-Trent.

Officers say two males approached a security guard collecting cash outside the Aldi store on Whittle Road in Meir Park around 4:50pm this afternoon (3 April)  and threatened him.

The suspects then made off with a quantity of cash in a black coloured Alfa Romeo Mito car.

The guard sustained a minor injury to his leg and has been treated by paramedics.

The suspects are described as wearing light coloured clothing and dark face coverings including baseball caps. One of the male suspects was armed with a wheel brace.

Police say they are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the Alfa Romeo Mito car, before or after the incident.
