Police urge fans to be on best behaviour

The man in charge of policing at tonight's Checkatrade Trophy clash between Port Vale and Stoke City is urging fans to behave themselves..

A crowd of over 7,000 is expected at Vale Park for the first Potteries derby since 2002.

Stoke quickly sold out of their allocation of around 4,000 tickets for the game.

Police have put a number of measures in place.

All police leave has been cancelled for the game.

Burslem Park will be closed to the public from 4.30pm.

Hamil Road will also be partially shut to traffic after the game while Stoke City fans will be kept inside the stadium for around 5 to 10 minutes after the final whistle.

Police say public houses in Burslem will only be admitting home supporters.
