Police officers amongst several injured following collisions in Stoke-on-Trent

An investigation is taking place following a serious collision resulting in a number of injuries in Stoke-on-Trent.

Just before 11am this morning (12 October), police were called to a report of a suspicious Fiat Punto off Topham Place in Bucknall. Officers sustained minor injuries when the vehicle drove off as they tried to detain it.

The vehicle subsequently hit a pedestrian on Fenton Road, who has been taken to hospital for further treatment.

The car then continued towards Ruxley Road, where it collided with a second vehicle whose occupants sustained minor injuries.

The driver of the Fiat Punto fled the scene.

Chief Superintendent Wayne Jones, head of contact and response, said: "Officers with support of the Dog Unit are working to locate the driver, and are making a number of active enquiries.

"We are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collisions or have dash-cam footage that could assist with the investigation."
