Police name man who died after collapsing in Newcastle park

Police have identified a man who passed away at Apedale Country Park in Newcastle.

Francis Hamlett, aged 50, from the Hartshill area of Stoke-on-Trent, fell unwell at the site yesterday (19 November)

He is believed to have suffered a cardiac arrest.

West Midlands Ambulance Service paramedics and police officers tried to resuscitate him but were unsuccessful.

He was pronounced dead at Royal Stoke Hospital.

Staffordshire Police say they are currently not considering his death to be suspicious and a report is being prepared for the Coroner. A post mortem will now take place.
