Police appeal after three men assaulted in Newcastle

Three young men were taken to hospital for treatment following an assault in Newcastle yesterday evening.

The incident occurred in Ashfields New Road just after 7pm (November 30).

Police have said they will increased their presence in the area while their investigations continue. 

The three victims, aged around 17-19,were taken to hospital for treatment; their injuries are not described as life-threatening. 

Officers are seeking witnesses to the assault and, in particular, want to locate a man described as white, around 6ft tall, wearing a dark tracksuit and dark beanie hat who ran away from the scene. 

It is believed the man has a beard and a local accent and was carrying a rucksack or bag.
