Pedestrian fatally injured after Cheshire village collision

A pedestrian has died following a collision in Cheshire.

Emergency services were called to reports of a collision involving a blue Vauxhall van and a pedestrian on Congleton Road, Marton, near to The Davenport Arms pub around 9pm last night.

The pedestrian, a 69-year-old woman from Rushton Spencer, sustained fatal injuries and later passed away at Royal Stoke Hospital.

Next of kin have been informed of the incident although formal identification has yet to take place.

Police would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed anything in the run-up to the incident or just afterward. Anyone with information is urged to get in contact via 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
