Bosses at the trust that runs the Royal Stoke and Stafford's County Hospital say nearly 500 patients who tested positive for coronavirus have now recovered.
The figures have been confirmed by the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust, as it also shared the story of one patient on Twitter.
86 year-old William from Stafford is amongst the latest to be discharged.
Staff lined the corridor and applauded as he was able to leave the ward.
This is 86 year-old William from Stafford, he is one of nearly 500 patients that have now recovered from Covid-19 and discharged. Sadly, figures released yesterday (21 May) confirmed that 282 patients with Covid-19 had died at UHNM.
