Motorists are being warned of rush hour delays on the A500 in Stoke-on-Trent.
The dual carriageway is shut northbound at the A52 City Road interchange after a lorry suffered a tyre blowout.
Highways bosses say it has damaged its fuel tank and diesel has been spilt across the road.
After the spillage has been cleared the carriageway will need to be resurfaced.
Closure remains in place for repairs to take place #A500 Northbound within the A52/A5007 #WhieldonRoad Junction. Diversion via crossing over Whieldon Road & City road to rejoin A500 Northbound. There are long delays in the area tailing back to the A34 Hanford interchange.
Motorists are being urged to find alternative routes.
