Man treated for head injuries following Longton assault

A man has suffered head injuries after being attacked by a group of men in Longton.

It happened in Belgrave Road just after midnight on Sunday morning (11 August). 

Detectives investigating the incident have said it is not gang related but an isolated incident which took place following an argument. 

The victim and his partner were walking home with friends when an argument began after comments were made to them by men in a black car. 

Officers say the car pulled up and men jumped out and assaulted the man. Another white or silver car was seen at the time.

The victim, who is in his 40s and from the Longton area, is being treated in hospital for head injuries.
