A man has suffered serious facial injuries after being assaulted in Crewe.
The 44-year-old was walking along Nantwich Road with two friends around 11pm on Saturday night.
As the trio walked between the train station and Gresty Road, they were approached by a group of people who began to attack the victim.
Investigating Officer Liz Rankin said: “As a result of this assault the victim has suffered serious facial injuries, including a fractured eye socket, which will require ongoing hospital treatment.
“We are currently following a number of lines of enquiry, and as part of my investigation I urge anyone with any information in relation to this incident to contact the team here at Crewe so the offender can be brought to justice.”
