Man injured and dog killed in collision

A dog has died and a man is in hospital after a collision near Newcastle.

The 24-year-old was stood outside the Scout Hut on Wereton Road in Audley around 9pm last night, when he was struck by a silver coloured Peugeot coming from the direction of Halmerend.

He sustained leg and facial injuries requiring hospital treatment, but has now been discharged. 

Sadly, his 16-week-old Cocker Spaniel was killed in the incident.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact PC Rachel Hurst on 101 quoting incident number 797 of 17 October, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
