Man charged with robbery at Macclesfield bar at the weekend

A 25-year-old man from Macclesfield has been charged following a robbery at a sports bar in the town.

The incident happened in the early hours of yesterday morning (January 5).

Cheshire Police say a quantity of cash was stolen during the robbery at The Elbow Room sports bar in Wood Street.

Officers subsequently conducted a search in the town, aided by a police helicopter.

Niall Wilde, of Arley Close, was arrested in connection with the theft at around 3.20am.

He was detained in Ivy Road and has subsequently been charged with robbery.

Wilde has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Crewe Magistrates’ Court today.
