Man arrested on M6 after armed officers deployed

A man has been arrested on the M6 in connection with incidents that saw armed officers deployed to two Stoke-on-Trent addresses.

The 29-year-old, from Leeds, was believed to be heading to the Potteries from Yorkshire in a grey Skoda Octavia after allegedly making threats to a woman.

He was followed from Newcastle, up to junction 17 of the motorway, and arrested for possession of a firearm, threats to kill and driving under the influence of alcohol.

Firearms officers had earlier been deployed to Adventure Place in Hanley city centre, and Jefferson Street in Tunstall, in connection with the incident, which was domestic-related.
