Man arrested in Sweden charged with Stoke-on-Trent murder

A man has been extradited from Sweden and charged with the murder of a woman in Stoke-on-Trent.

The body of 71-year-old Wendy Morse was found at her home in Tunstall Road, Knypersley, on 22 March.

Kenneth Andrew McDermid, 42, of Rosemary Place, Sneyd Green, was arrested on suspicion of murder by Swedish authorities at the end of March and remained in custody until extradition proceedings were complete.

He arrived in the UK yesterday (19 May).

McDermid appeared before magistrates at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre this morning (20 May) charged with murder.

He is due to appear at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Friday (22 May).
