A man has been arrested after an incident on the M6 in Staffordshire this evening.
Officers stopped a vehicle between junctions 15 and 16 and a number of people have exited the back of the vehicle.
Colleagues from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service and West Midlands Ambulance Service are also in attendance.
A police spokesman said: “Police and partners are assessing the welfare of the people who exited the vehicle and will be liaising with colleagues in Immigration Enforcement.
“We recognise the disruption this is causing to road users and we thank everyone for their co-operation.”
The motorway has now fully reopened in both directions.
