Kidsgrove man admits killing father

A Kidsgrove man has been given a indefinite hospital order after stabbing his father to death.

Stafford Crown Court heard police were called to a house in Whitehill Road, Kidsgrove, on 11 September 2014.

They found Gareth Ainscow with a bloodied knife, which he dropped when ordered to do so, and was arrested.

He told police his father had assaulted him.

66-year-old David Ainscow was in the house and had suffered knife wounds.

Despite the work of a paramedic, he died shortly afterwards.

Gareth, 49, pleaded guilty to manslaughter with diminished responsibility.

He was sentenced to an indefinite hospital order at a hearing today (28 July).
