Hospital bosses say IT problems that have led to cancellations have been 'resolved'

IT problems that have affected services at Royal Stoke and County Hospital in Stafford appear to be resolved.

Yesterday (2 July), the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust - which runs them - said that elective procedures and outpatient appointments were cancelled due to 'network issues'.

The trust confirmed that the IT disruption had continued today (3 July), and that while both hospitals remain open, they have cancelled adult and paediatric outpatient appointments again.

This afternoon, they have released a statement saying they believe the issues have been addressed.

The statement says: "While we are optimistic that a solution has been found there are further steps to be taken to ensure this solution is stable and continue to conduct safety checks.

"While these checks take place, all outpatient appointments remain cancelled today (Wed 3 July) unless patients are contacted direct and routine elective surgery is being reviewed on our case by case basis.

"We apologise for the inconvenience caused and thank patients for their understanding and co-operation."
