Health commissioners urged not to close any more community hospital beds

A group campaigning against a scheme to close community hospital beds in the north of Staffordshire will march to deliver a letter of concerns to health commissioners.

The North Staffordshire Pensioners Convention says the scheme, which aims to care for people at home instead, could put lives at risk.

An open letter has been signed by the three Stoke-On-Trent MPs, unions and campaigners.

On Monday, members of the Pensioners' Convention quizzed NHS bosses over plans to close community hospital beds.

Two wards in Cheadle closed last week as part of a strategy, aimed at having more people cared for in their own homes.
