Dog rescue charity Animal Lifeline is staging a major fund-raising event this Sunday (June 2) to help it cope with an increasing number of abandoned dogs.
A garden party and open day is being held at the charity's Serendipity Kennels on Leek Road, Cellarhead.
The event will be open from 2pm-4pm.
Admission is free but visitors are being asked to bring along tinned dog food if possible to help feed the 100-plus dogs in the charity's care at present.
Volunteer Cassie Fletcher, who is helping stage the event. said: "More and more people are abandoning dogs and while we are re-homing steadily, overall pet ownership is declining in the UK due to changing social and work patterns, so we are always at full stretch.
“We try to help as many needy dogs as we can and we are hoping the event will raise around £2,000 to help us out at this difficult time, plus boost our food stocks.”
The event will feature many under-cover stalls, including toys, books, gifts, jewellery, home-made cakes, tombola and refreshments and visitor's dogs are also welcome on the site.
