Fire fighters called to tackle lorry blaze in Stafford

Firefighters from Stafford and Penkridge attended to a lorry fire in Stafford earlier today.

They were called to the incident just after midnight this morning (August 3) after the trailer of the HGV caught fire.

The incident broke out on the Wolverhampton Road, which had to be closed while crews brought the situation under control.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Fire and Rescue said the vehicle contained non-hazardous food stuffs.

Teams were on site until just after 7am checking for hot-spots before declaring the blaze out.

The fire is not being treated as suspicious.
