Fatal hit and run

Investigations are continuing into a fatal hit and run in Leek.

A 48 year-old woman collided with a vehicle at the junction of Cruso Street and Broad Street on Friday afternoon.


She suffered serious head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The woman's family have been informed and specially trained officers are supporting them at this difficult time.

Sergeant Ian Revans, (pictured) investigating officer, said: "We want to hear from anyone who may have seen the victim in the street. She is described as white with light coloured hair. She wore a light brown coat with black leggings and black framed glasses. She also had a walking stick.

"We have carried out extensive inquiries, including checking CCTV footage and this is set to continue this week. A number of witnesses have already been spoken to.

"A vehicle has been seized as part of our investigation and will now undergo a detailed forensic and mechanical examination.

"No one has been arrested at this time and our inquiries continue into circumstances of this collision."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Staffordshire Police on 101, quoting incident  number 306 of October 12.
