Dog shot in the head in Staffordshire

The RSPCA is appealing for information after the body of a greyhound dog was found dumped in Stone.

The body of a male dog was found in Washdale, Old Road, Oulton Heath, Stone on September 10th.

The body was examined and it appears the dog had been shot in the head.

RSPCA inspector Laura Bryant said: "The RSPCA was notified regarding this incident and on examination the dog does have a small hole in his head which indicates it is likely that he had been shot.

"There are no other obvious injuries to the dog. It is not known how long the body had been left at the location and we need to find out more about what happened here.

"The dog was a male, cream coloured greyhound.

"I would appeal to anyone who has any information about this incident or any related incidents to contact the RSPCA appeal line on 0300 123 8018. Calls will be treated in confidence.”
