Crewe thief handed order banning him from touching vehicles

A thief from Crewe has been given an order banning him from touching unattended cars.

Stephen Grace, 56, of Gresty Road, had pleaded guilty at Crewe Magistrates Court to one count of theft from a motor vehicle and 3 counts of vehicle interference.

On Friday 5 October 2018 Grace stole change from a car on Blackthorne Close, Crewe. He was caught on CCTV and recognised by officers.

Grace has 47 previous convictions for 114 offences, including many others for thefts from vehicles.

Grace was jailed for 30 weeks as the latest offence was committed whilst he was on a suspended sentence for a previous theft from a motor vehicle.

He has now been handed a five year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO), following an application made by Cheshire Police.

The conditions ban him from touching or entering any unattended vehicle without the express permission of the owner.

It also bans him from entering a driveway to any residential property without permission.

He will also be subject to a six month curfew between 7pm and 6am with immediate effect.
