Consultation on interim leisure provision following closure of Kidsgrove Sports Centre

Following the closure of Kidsgrove Sports Centre, residents are being asked what they would like to see until it can be replaced.

The facility was closed at the end of June after Newcastle Borough Council said the site - which it runs, but is owned by Staffordshire County Council – needed £2.4million of repairs to bring it up to an acceptable condition.

The Borough Council says it is now looking at providing alternatives, until it can develop long-term plans for new services in the area.

An online survey can be accessed via the council’s website, and there will also be paper copies available at Kidsgrove library and local community centres.

The survey will be available until Monday 14 August.

Campaigners from the Kidsgrove Sports Centre Action Group, who fought to prevent the site closing, say that a consultation should have taken place before any decision was made about its future.
