Congleton in Bloom has scooped the top level of Gold at the Britain in Bloom national finals.
The Cheshire town was representing the North West in the large town category having won North West in Bloom in 2015.
The award ceremony took place in Birmingham and was attended by the Town Mayor, Councillor David Brown, Leader of the Town Council Cllr Bob Edwards and Glen Williams and Patti Pinto from the In Bloom team.
Councillor David Brown said: “It was a real honour and privilege to represent the North West area in the national Britain in Bloom finals – and obtaining a gold medal is a great success.
"Being part of this prestigious national competition has been great for Congleton and our town really has bloomed this summer. It’s been a huge community effort that has benefited the town. I would like to thank everyone in the town that took time to help us achieve this award.
"We have been greatly supported by the business community who have poured thousands into the efforts through sponsorship and buying planters and baskets. I am very proud to receive this GOLD award on behalf of everyone in Congleton who worked so hard to achieve it and look forward to sharing this success with them at our In Bloom 2016 awards evening on 1 November.
"In the meantime there’s no time to rest – work is well underway for the Congleton in Bloom 2017 campaign with the schools planting up winter pots next weekend.”
