A fire at a Congleton timber yard is being investigated by Cheshire Police as arson.
Firefighters were called to the incident on Mountbatten Way around 12:42am last Tuesday morning (24 September).
At least 10 people were evacuated from nearby properties during the night, while other residents were advised to close their windows and doors as a precaution.
Twelve fire engines, including relief crews, attended - one from Congleton, one from Sandbach, two from Macclesfield, one from Alsager, one from Warrington, one from Crewe, one from Knutsford, one from Penketh, one from Northwich, one from Winsford and one from Ellesmere Port - as has an aerial ladder platform from Lymm.
The fire was brought under control, and digger was used to expose hotspots, so the blaze could be fully extinguished.
Crews were able to leave the scene on Wednesday morning (25 September), before returning to fully dampen down on Thursday (26 September).
Police are now investigating the fire, and believe it was started deliberately. Anyone who has any information is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting IML 521269 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
