Charity asking for help to Fund the Gap

The Donna Louise Children’s Hospice has launched an appeal to help complete a renovation project.

The charity was awarded a grant of £483,000 from the Department of Health’s Capital Grants Programme to undertake some essential maintenance and upgrading of the Hospice facilities.

The first phase of work is due to start at the end of September and includes installing more energy efficient lighting and insulation to reduce running costs, replacement hoists and piped oxygen.

The charity also wants a new playground, replacement beds and cots as well as the refurbishment of the family accommodation – however the funds awarded will not stretch that far.

They need to raise £220,000 to fund the gap, and have launched a fundraising campaign to help reach the target.
