Car set on fire twice within a few hours

An investigation is underway in Crewe after a car was set on fire twice in the space of a few hours.

At around 9.45pm last night (31 January) firefighters were dispatched to reports of a fire on the car park near to the golf course at Queens Park.

The team attended the scene and on arrival they discovered a car which was well alight.

One firefighter, wearing breathing apparatus, used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire. The team then used a thermal imaging camera to check for any hotspots.

Then at around 12:45am this morning (1 February) firefighters were again called to reports of a fire on the car park near to the golf course at Queens Park.

On arrival at the scene the team discovered the car that had been extinguished during a previous incident had been set on fire again.

Firefighters used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire and then used a thermal imaging camera to check for any hotspots.

In total, fire crews spent around 2 hours at the scene. 

The cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate and anyone with any information is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting IML309676.
