Cannabis plants found following house fire

Police say a number of cannabis plants were discovered at a house in Crewe, following a fire at the property.

Fire crews were called out to a fire in the roof space of an empty terraced property in Nelson Street at 11:30pm on Tuesday 4 April.

The blaze had spread to neighbouring properties, leading to residents being evacuated from 28 homes.

The cause of the fire has not been confirmed, but a small number of cannabis plants were found in the address.

DC Richard Garret of Cheshire Police said: “A white van was seen parked opposite the premises at approximate 10.30pm on the night of the fire and group of men were spotted emptying the house of contents.

“We would appeal to anyone who has any information about the acitivity at the address, or has any information about the people who lived there to contact police.”
