Armed officers deployed after man with pistol robbed Leek shop

Armed officers were deployed in Leek after a shop was robbed by a man, believed to be armed with a pistol.

Police say a male entered Premier Stores, in Southbank Street, at 10pm last night (13 August) wearing a black cloth over his face, revealing only his eyes.

He stole a large amount of cash from the till. 

Firearms officers attended the scene and carried a full search and patrol of the area.

An investigation is underway. 

The suspect is a white male believed to be between 5ft 6ins and 5ft 10ins tall. He was of slim-medium build and wore all dark clothing including black or blue shoes, jeans, hat and jacket. He also wore dark gloves and held the weapon in his right hand.
