Alton Towers delays Gangsta Granny ride opening

Alton Towers has announced the opening of new ride Gangsta Granny will be postponed until next year.

It was revealed in January that the Staffordshire theme park had teamed up with David Walliams to bring to life his most popular children’s novel.

It also announced a whole area of the park would be transformed, inspired by ‘The World of David Walliams’, and four Gangsta Granny themed bedrooms were being created in the Alton Towers Hotel.

The new additions were due to be unveiled this Spring, but the park has been closed to visitors since 19 March because of the coronavirus outbreak.

While work is taking place to prepare the site for reopening, once Government guidelines permit it, the decision has been taken to postpone the opening of the Gangsta Granny ride until Spring 2021.

While fans have expressed their disappointment on social media, many support the decision for a full celebration next year.
