Adams steps down

Port Vale manager Micky Adams has announced he's temporarily stepping down from first-team duties.

Adams has revealed he's going into hospital for a hip operation on Monday.

He made the announcement after the 3 -2 win over his former club Coventry City.

First team coach, Robert Page will now take over at Vale on a temporary basis, assisted by Assistant Manager Mark Grew.

The Valiants twice came from behind to secure three points against Coventry at Vale Park, keeping them 13th in the table.

Micky Adams said: "I am having surgery on my hip next week, this needs to be done to ensure my long-term health.

"It is great that I am going into this surgery with a win and a great performance under our belts and I am looking forward to returning to the dugout as soon as possible."
